This striking ‘Palladian’ style country farmhouse in the Cotswolds was built to our design, which had evolved greatly from the original planning drawings. There was no Project Architect on the job – just a Client with many years experience of project management in the Construction Industry who had total faith and trust in our knowledge. We were responsible for the exterior design of the whole building above and below ground floor level, working drawings, stone procurement and site fixing.
Again, we also designed all methods of support and attachment of the masonry with similar challenges to the Wentworth contract. Internally, Cotswold stone flooring with Ironstone cabouchons made a bold statement in the Hallway. Leading from that was an impressive stone stair with wrought iron balustrade. The pediment at roof level is faced both sides in natural stone, pierced with a ‘bullseye’ opening to let extra light through to the glass atrium above the stairwell.
